Starting RN Salary

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I know this is a broad question, but I am curious if anyone can tell me approximately what an RN in Georgia makes. I am moving from Oklahoma, and am just trying to get a ballpark figure on what RN pay is?

Thanks.

In Southwest GA I've heard anything from 18 to 22 an hr. But increase w/ shift diff, etc.

3 years experience as an RN. Very rural southwest GA small hospital. Started at 17/hour. After 3 years of 18/hour. No raises this year. No one here has insurance. There are also no jobs. I moved here 3 years ago when I could not find a job in Atlanta. I learned a ton. However, I now need more money d/t increased costs in living.

I might add that I personally do not find south GA cheap. My gas costs the same as Atlanta. My food costs the same as Atlanta. Insurance is close if not the same on my car. I also have to drive a lot to shop, eat out, see friends, and etc. My rent is 700/month. It is nothing spectacular. Like I said in a previous post, I moved here for the experience.

Amen. I have never understood how "cost of living is higher in/near Atlanta". Just ain't no proof in that pudding.

Yup, it's no more expensive to live in Atlanta, and there's much more to do! You can totally live cheaply here if you want to - my rent right now is $350 and I've paid $125 to share a house with a few people. It's doable.

It depends on which hospital in Atlanta you want to work for, and which specialty area you want to work. Also, weekend option and PRN positions pay more per hour.

My rent is definitely not 700.00 per month living in Atlanta - try doubling that.

Come back to Atlanta - we have jobs!

It is doable - just depends on what your family needs are, I guess. But, you are right on one thing - there is plenty to do here and some of it is free!

I didn't realize that there was a pay difference based on your specialty of choice. Can someone provide more insight? Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know how much an RN, BSN with 7 years acute care experience could possibly make in the Atlanta area? I also have 8 prior years as an LPN working acute care. I am currently living in Dallas with a base pay of $40/hr. Is this possible in the Atlanta area?
