I have read some informative post on this site, but I have more questions. I am a RN with 18 months experience in psych nursing and will be moving to Augusta,GA by the end of June. I have obtained GA license by endorsement and have applied for a couple of nursing positions in psych and med-surg as I will like to gain that nursing skill if I find a med-surg position. My questions are as follows:

1. How do I go about securing a nursing job in Augusta both in psych or med-surg?

2. Any recommendation as in the best areas to look for housing? ( I have a 4 and 3 year olds n also will be looking for great pre-k programs and daycare centers)

3. Suggestions on agents to work with to secure a rental home

4. Suggestions on moving companies ( found some online, but reviews are all bad n it scares me)

I really appreciate any and all suggestions and information about Augusta.

There are not as many jobs out here as there is in Atlanta and the surrounding areas, but being that you have experience you may be alright. If you haven't already done so, you could apply with Georgia Regents Hospital (they're the best), University Hospital (great for maternity nursing), Trinity Hospital, or Doctor's Hospital. As far as places to live, you should probably find a place in Evans, Martinez, or Grovetown, but there are also a few nice areas in Hephzibah. ABC daycare is excellent and have even been in the papers. I am not sure about pre-k programs because I plan on relocating after I graduate. You could contact Meybohm for a rental home agent, they're pretty good and I don't know much about moving companies other than it could cost a lot. I'm not sure if you've already found out all of this or not, but good luck and I hope I was helpful.

Thanks a lot NeoNurse2Be. I really appreciate you for taking the time to give these info. I am fortunate that I had some interviews lined up before arriving in Augusta, and accepted an offer at Doctors on their med-surg floor. We got a nice rental home in grovetown, though all lottery funded pre-k programs are filled, so we have to pay out of pocket for our son to attend a preK class. So far, we are liking it here in Augusta, friendly neighbors, quite and grovetown is just peaceful.

Hope your move to Augusta went smoothly. I have an opportunity to apply for a travel nurse job in Augusta, how do you like the area? Curious if you feel it is safe, fun, etc.

Thanks!
