Brenau Part-time Spring 2014

U.S.A. Georgia

Is anyone else applying for the part-time Spring 2014 term? Any full-time applicants?

I was thinking maybe less competition too but I do not want to get confident because it might be a lot of students applying that are just not speaking up about it. At least they got full approval once again! I mailed my application off too so all I have to do is send in my transcript from this semester in and then it is just a waiting game!

Hey Glenna,

I wish you the best of luck with the test. I have not signed up for the Kaplan test yet...I should do it soon though. I started to look at the Kaplan study guide, and it doesn't seem to be a breeze... :-/ I turned in my application to Brenau Univ ( not Brenau Nursing) to be accepted by fall term because reading on the allnurses blog for Brenau previous years everybody is recommending to take the pathophisiology class before the nursing program starts because it is too intense to take it with any other classes. The only prereq I have left to take for the Brenau Nursing program is a Literature class which I already singned up for the summer term with GPC, and a foreingn language class which I am trying to test out off. So if the Kaplan goes well and I will be accepted to the RN program (God help me) I will be done with prereqs and take the Pathophysiology class with Brenau in the Fall.

Hey ladies good luck with your applications!! When do you all find out about your acceptance?

I'm currently in a patho class that has a lot of part-time nursing students in their 1st nursing semester, & so far I gather that patho is the toughest class the 1st nursing semester. (I decided to take patho early since its better for me to take tougher classes while my kids are in school).. Anyhow, good luck with your apps and I'm in the brenau full time program but maybe we'll be classmates sometime (-:

Hi Roxanne!

I believe that we won't find out about acceptance until July. How are your classes going and what are you taking this semester? How are the instructors?

Hey shanna!

I'm taking patho and Spanish 2 this semester. Patho is interesting for sure! It's cool because we are learning what happens when a&p goes wrong. It's a lot of information to take in, especially the signs & symptoms, but I think once I start clinicals that will help patho sink in by seeing the conditions. We do a case study every week and that really helps since it gives us practice in recognizing signs & symptoms and how to decide which diagnostic tests to proceed with. My patho instructor is really nice and he is pretty funny, so that helps!

Good luck with your test tomorrow! I'll pray for you! Go in there confident and positive. I'm sure you'll do great. Let us know how the Kaplan went. I'm curious if there will be any analogy questions on the test...those questions are killing me! :)

Ummnasim,

Do you remember if any analogy questions were being asked on the Kaplan test?

adria10,

There were no analogy questions on the test. All of the reading consisted of reading passages with comprehension questions. The writing section didn't have any analogy questions either. Does anyone know how many students they admit to the program?

Thanks, Shanna. That helps, cause I've been focusing so much on those analogy questions... :-? and I really don;t want to waste my time...In regards to spots, as far as the adviser told me, they are accepting between 65-75 students.

Thanks adria10! I actually changed dates so I'm definitely taking the test next Thursday the 18th. I got cold feet and didn't make the deadline with my application for the April 11th test but did mail my check and app for the 18th with plenty of time to spare. Instead I did go check out the campus and registered for fall semester yesterday. I'm going to be finishing up my pre-reqs with micro and a&p II and taking med terminology in the fall. I'm excited about the school. I didn't like the lack of choices with times and days classes were offered. There was only one micro class offered and two labs. I'm not used to that coming from a community college.

Glenna,

You're welcome! The good luck wish is also for the next week then. :) I totally feel you about the cold feet decision but as much as we run from it we just got to go and face the challenge. I also signed up to take it on the 18th, yaayyy, I have a test buddy now! :) Check your inbox, I messaged you on how to recognize me. See you on Thursday!

Good luck Glenna and Adriana! Don't be nervous :) I know easier said then done. I am just waiting and praying now. If I don't get in, I will apply again for the next 2015 term. I will not give up on my dreams.

apparently I couldn't reply to your private message because I haven't started enough topics or something. Anyways here's what I tried to send lol...

Glad to have a testing buddy!! I'll be rooting for you along with me. :) I'm not hard to spot at all. I'll be the dark haired girl with lots of tattoos. Since I haven't taken a&p II I'm really nervous. Someone at orientation a few days ago said that they took the kaplan twice in the same period (a few months time) and it was the SAME test both times. The girl was like REMEMBER those questions to look up and remember if you have to take it again. I've skimmed math and english but am really focused on the science. I look up a lot of flash cards on quizlet for nursing entrance exams and there are some free practice tests out there too. I just want to score more than a 70 so I know I'm competitive. We can do this!!!!!!

See you Thursday!

Glenna
