I just made an account on here so I'm a newbie.:)I'm a current student at Texas Woman's University at the denton campus and I am applying for the August 15th deadline to start nursing school in January 2017 at the Dallas campus. I have taken the teas v twice and I still can't manage to get the minimum accepted score on the math portion. I have a great over all GPA,almost all A's in everything. Time is running out for the application and I'm just wondering if it is worth taking it a third time or just hope for the best and leave my scores as is? The math portion score is a 54-___-, but everything else is fine. Please help. I am practically on my own. I am a first generation student so I don't really know who to go to when ever I have questions about these kind of things.

My guess? No, they probably won't 'overlook' anything. But please try not to take it personally because it's not about you. TWU is deluged with applicants to their highly competitive program. If they compromise standards even once, it will leave them open to claims of discrimination for anyone who didn't receive the same consideration.

There are many less competitive programs. Have you applied to them?

In my nursing program, the math portion of the TEAS was very important. The math in the TEAS is pretty basic, and you have to use math a lot in nursing. My program (and quite a few others) give a math test at the beginning of each semester of nursing school. You have to pass with a certain percentage (85% first semester, 90% second and third semester, and 95% fourth semester in my program) or you cannot continue in the program. I would suggest finding a tutor, and using the TEAS study guide to get better with your math before retaking the TEAS. I do think you should retake it. We you in the 54 Percentile? Or did you get 54% of the questions right?

Yeah I'm retaking it. I got 54% overall in math but that's because I take way too much time on the questions and I didn't get to answer a handful. I've been practicing soo much and trying different studying strategies .Thanks for your response.

I'm trying to find other schools that take the teas but so far only that I know of is TWU, Baylor , and Tarleton. I haven't done the applications for the other schools yet because I am not informed at all but I'm doing some research to see when their deadlines are. Most of the other schools take the HESI.
