Ok, I am frustrated as well because I just typed out a huge new thread and clicked submit and it didn't go through. What is with this!? Anyway...

I know some of you are going to laugh about this because I've seen the posts from others where their tuition is outragous but I guess it's just hitting me now. I will be starting nursing school in August 2006 so I've got about 12 weeks to save up more money. So it breaks down like this:

$670 Tuition

$24 Insurance

$150 Physical Exam

$150 Hepatitis Immunizations

$45 CPR Certification

$355 Related Course books

$250 Uniforms, lab coats, shoes

$15 Name pins and uniform patches

$65 Littman stethoscope

$18 Accessory Kit

$125 Lab Supplies

That's a total of $1867.00

Then there are two more but I'm not sure if they include my prereques that I've already taken and paid for:

$600 Books and syllabi

$414 Lab Fees

So I'm sure this is normal but the thing is that I do not qualify for financial aid because my school says I have too many credit hours (all from a different major at a different school) which is total crap! The second thing is that I am currently on a schedule to pay off all my credit cards before school starts so that I'm stress free. I do not want to put any of this on my credit cards! I'm sure I'll manage and be fine but just wanted to vent and see if anyone else feels my pain.

wow...does anoyone's school have tuition reimbursement? Im in a diploma program, and if we commit to two years at the hospital after graduation we get our tuition paid.

That will help, but I still have loans from my bachelors degree (in another field)

Specializes in Med/Surg..

My brother and his wife (both Nurses) are sending their oldest daughter to Nursing School this Fall at a private college in Mass. My Sister In-Law said the yearly fees will be $32,000 ($128,000 for the 4 years - boy that's painful)....:scrying:

I live in North Carolina - we are supposed to have some of the most reasonably priced Colleges & Universities around. I just finished an RN Program at a C.C. and I think when everythings added up - ended up being about 4 grand a year, so not too bad. My oldest son is a Senior Engineering Student at North Carolina State University and his tuition is actually about the same as mine - 4 grand a year. They have one of the very best Engineering Schools around - so it's quite a bargain compared to what some of the private colleges charge.

When I was looking at schools, I paid attention to their pass/fail rate for the Boards. I chose my school because it has a 100% first time pass rate. I don't care how great a name a school has - if only a few of the graduates can pass the Boards, the name means nothing.

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

That really bites. I feel for you!

How many hours is too many?
