Venting!!!

Nursing Students General Students

Hi all,

Just need to vent!!! How do you deal with a registrar that is totally incompetent? I had orientation for nursing 1 today & found out that I have to take microbiology b4 or with nursing 2. This is frustrating because I have been in this registrar's office many times discussing my game plan with her, & asking questions regarding my I plan my classes. Basically, everytime Im with her, everything is okay & then I find out that I have to readjust something (in a way that is not beneficial to me). Its not just me, but other students complain too. I tried to register for the micro today to take it with the nursing 1 (which I think may be easier than taking it with Nursing 2) but of course the class is filled. If I werent a fixture in this registrar's office I wouldn't complain. But what can I do? Thanks for listening!!:banghead:

It could just be that the requirements changed. I know it seemed like they changed every semester I was taking my pre-reqs.

Try emailing the instructor for the microbiology class and see if you can be added. It worked for me this semester. Good Luck.

Even better - show up to the micro class on the first day and ask the prof in person. In all likelihood someone won't show up the first day and you may be able to be added in their place. I know where I took micro there was a strict class size limit because of the number of lab sections and stations, but I remember them passing around a sheet for people to sign who hadn't yet registered. I was even able to switch to a more convenient lab ime when someone else dropped.

I don't know if the registrar is the person you should be talking to. Is there no academic advisor/counselor? At my school the registrar just collects the fees and processes adds and drops. Maybe at your school the registrar is also the nursing program advisor?

I will try that & emailing. Thanks!

Its a small school affiliated with a county college, but she is the one to talk to about which classes we should or should not take during a given semester. I don't know...I'm going to try to see if I can get into the micro class by following the others suggestions.
