Hey everyone, I am in a dilemma. I have a bachelor of science in criminal justice so a accelerated program would best suit me in obtaining my nursing degree. I was accepted to NYU program but had to do my prereq there, I took a&p one and two together in one semester, developmental psych, nutrition i did good in those course but not excellent. I failed chemistry which is tearing me apart, but i would hate for this to define my ambition and love for tying to become a nurse. I am a certified nurse assistant with a phlebotomy and ekg certification working at a hospital. recommendation from nurses and physician is not a problem. now my question is how can i reapply to a school without getting judged for my failed grade in chemistry? I was planning to apply stony brook since it is close to where I live, part of nyu failing was it was the commute was killing me and financially i support myself. if i do attend stoney brook what chemistry course do I take? And do I have a chance to turn my negative to a positive when I apply to stony brook. i think it is a rough patch for me since I have a 3.8 gpa for my first degree but for my prereq not so much. Any advice???

I was in a similar situation to you and I just graduated from stony brooks 2 year nursing program. I got Cs in chemistry 1 and 2 at Boston university and i was nervous it would prevent me from getting into nursing school. I re-took chemistry 1 at Suffolk community college (I only had to re-take 1 course because only 1 chemistry is required for admission) and I got an A. I would not take chemistry at stony brook... it will be significantly more difficult than Suffolk and you need to get an A to prove you can do well in chemistry.
