TEAS 5 test scores 10 points lower than older version???

Nursing Students General Students

I just took my Teas and got an 80% overall. I wasn't happy with it, but the nursing school counselor who talks to everyone after they take it said that was really good because the new TEAS version 5 scores are on average 10 points lower than versions 3 or 4. Has anybody else taken the TEAS 5 or heard that the scores were lower? I think she said it was a lot harder or something so people are scoring lower. She said that it would make the cutoff score lower for entrance to the nursing program at my school since everyone's were lower. I was in the first group at my school to take the new version so they don't have anything concrete to go on.

I called the department yesterday after another group took it ( we were the first group at my school to take the version 5) and she said there wasn't a single score above the 68% range...

Just seeing if anybody else knows anything about it.

Just took the test today and there were three geology questions about tetonic plates, one on tyoes of rocks and another on weathering.

What version of the test did you take? People who are taking the newest version (version 5) are all saying that there is no Geo on it... an update would be great; I'm taking Version 5 next Friday!

:uhoh3:

I took the version 5 like last week, and made the same exact score as version 4. How weird? I studied for it, this time they give more time for math, which was like elementary. Reading was long passages, science was long too. Overall, I would say not hard, but 4 hours of testing with no breaks...it was tough. I made a 72! I dont think it is a very good score, but a lot of people do bad on this new version, and I hope my schools accept me! Mannnn, I want it soooo bad!!!:crying2:

I dont't think you can compare scores of the two versions, because they are 2 different tests. The math was a lot of algebra (but pretty basic). Lots of chemistry, too. I studied for 3 wks and got an 81 which is considered "advanced." Whatever that means. All I know is that I'm not taking it again! Ha ha!

I just took the TEAS test today. I would say it is pretty difficult and the book wasn't helpful. I know several people that took the last version and said it was mainly information from the prerequisite classes. It felt like there was a lot of random question thrown all over the place and very little anatomy or physiology. I do not have my score back yet. I am a strong student with great grades and I feel like the TEAS is not reflective of the science classes we took. Version 5 is flawed. I have been reviewing the ATI book and website pre-test. The English is exactly what you would expect. I really wish that these tests were more intuitive to dedication, personality, knowledge of applied science, and anticipated outcome of your training. Hope this helps. :nono:

I don't think you can really study for the science section because it is so broad. I didn't and I made an 85. However, I'm wondering is this score good enough????

An 85 is good! I disagree though...it IS possible to study for the science. Get the ati study guide. It has everything in it that could be on your test.

yes, exactly like punnett squares and genetic carrier predictions. Also, sequencing of dna amino acids.. like a with t and stuff like that. Oh yea and there are some weird direction and order things too... like this sequence: WKYTES then a series of 10 steps like take out every third letter, replace each vowel with an A, etc then it asks what word you are left with. Let me know if I can help!

I will try to remember anything else I can...
