School is on probation....Now what?

Nursing Students General Students

I just found out that my nursing school is on probation after the board came through for a review. I am halfway through my second semester of the RN program, would like to sit for my LPN boards this summer, and continue into the 3rd and 4th semester. Anyone ever heard of this and what it means for students? I know that a lot of things can put a school on probation including less than great NCLEX pass rates. Will I eveb be able to sit for the boards? SG

I have heard of schools being on probation, there are variuos reasons, most commonly pass rates. I've not heard of a nursing school being shut down, however, the chiropractic school near me was shut down 2 years ago. I knew some students. They were sort of put on hold. They continued knowing there was a possiblity they may not be able to graduate. On the next review they were reinstated, and the students graduated and continued on. It seemed to be a scare tactic to me. I don't think you have m uch choice but to continue. Chances are the school will correct whatever the problem is and you will graduate without any problems.
