Specializes in ER/Emergency Behavioral Health....

I am in my first year of an associates degree program. It is fast paced. I am also working full time night shift.

I was so nervous taking my first exam. I worked the weekend before (Friday Saturday and Sunday night) and my test was Monday early afternoon (1145).

I got 2 hours of a nap before going in for the exam. I got an 87%!!!

I am really hoping this is the trend for my future exams in this program. I know they all say that if you are usually an A student then don't be upset when you get B's or C's. I'm happy with a solid B considering the circumstances.

The next exam I took off the night before so I can sleep and have a good breakfast beforehand.

Any other tips for bringing that B to an A?

That's fantastic! I hope I can maintain just like you (I'm facing a similarily hectic qtr) this Fall. Congratulations! Keep it up!

Congrats!

Make sure you review the incorrect answers on your exam with your prof so you know the rationale for the correct answers. That way, you've got a solid base going in to the next unit. Break up your study time in to chunks so it's manageable. I always do a quick review of what I feel I don't know well right before bedtime the night before the exam. The day of the exam, I don't look at anything at all. If I don't know it by now, I don't know it. I always do better if I don't look at any notes the day of the exam.

It may sound silly, but I tell myself, out loud, on the way to the exam "you are going to pass this exam. You WILL get an A". I know it sounds corny, but actually hearing your own voice say it is actually relaxing. It really lowers my stress level.
