Now that your in.....

Nursing Students General Students

Now that you have been accepted into a program, are you scared at all? I worked so hard to get into my nursing program. Now that I got in, I have been thinking about nursing school and I am terrified! What if I do not do good? What if I can not handle it? Can I keep my GPA up? Some one slap me with that fish!:trout: LOL Any one else nervous now that they go in?

My Aunt sent me this and thought it could help calm us all down. A tip from Dr. Phil.

By following this simple advice I heard on the Dr. Phil show, I have finally found inner peace. Dr Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you've started and never have finished." So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of White Zenfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a bottle of Kahlua, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, all of the Doritos and a box of chocolates. You have absolutely no idea how good I feel right now!

Dang, that Dr. Phil is smart!

It did make me feel better. I laughed until I cried.

:rotfl:

Congrats on getting in to Nursing school!

Avery, what a conicidence! i also graduate May 13th and have pinning May 12th!

Have fun in Mexico, I'm taking a trip to Australia May 17-June 6th! Can't wait! I'm so glad to be done with Nursing school!

Specializes in Burn/Trauma PCU.

oh, i can also totally relate. i, too, did the immediate switch from "yessssss!" (kip lowering fist after strike) to "oh crap, what did i just get myself into???" :uhoh21:

while i've definitely calmed down and had my confidence restored, i still do freak out now and then, especially when i read posts about people failing one test and it's the end of the program for them - like dosage calculation math tests and stuff. ack! i know the accel-bsn program i am going to, like a lot of programs, has a noticeable attrition rate - usually about 50-75% of the class graduates by the end - and i guess i always wonder, "what made them fail/drop out?" and i pray that i am not one of those people.

i know graduation will be sweet, and i'm hoping to also take a nice vacation with my sweet dh to celebrate! :monkeydance: (

I agree with you all as well. I start in August 06, I am really nervous too. But I also am really excited as well. I guess it will hit me more when classes actually start. I hope to get to know you all who are just starting out too! Congrats on getting accepted that is an accomplishment in itself.

:lol2: That's it! I feel so much better and more confident now that I've finished all the things I started! :roll

The first thing I learned in nursing school is that you need to have confidence in yourself! You were chosen because you were on of the best applicants. You will have test questions that you will have no earthly clue where they pulled the material from but by the end, you will be really good at taking tests. I did very well in nursing school and graduate in 14 days! You can all do it! I never found the material to be hard and after all, this is something you want to do, not some pre-req that you could care less about. Cherish every moment and take it a semester at a time. It will fly by and you will graduate before you know it!

Best of luck to you all!

Wow! I am graduating soon also. But I hate to say that I found nursing school HARD. YOU MUST BE REALLY SMART!!!

But I know a lot of nurses that did not do as well in school but are great nurses. I think a lot has to do with being a NICE PERSON with patients and peers and staying professional.

I am celebrating my graduation in PARIS and ITALY!!

Specializes in Labor and Delivery.

I start a ADN program in August 2006,

Its bittersweet because I wanted to be a better provider for my wife, Unfortunately she cheated and i recently left her, so I guess i'll have to be a better provider for myself. I don't intend on dating during school, being married and taking pre-requisites was enough, but hey if i meet a great female study buddy, who knows what may happen, once i graduate of course.....good luck to all, i'm a man and am also scared of starting the program, I was on the waiting list for 2 years and now that august is approaching.......I got butterflies in my stomach cause it seems so Unreal that I have the opportunity to become a nurse, i respect the nursing profession so much and hope the women don't gang up on me with the male bashing cause I can bash back.

I so understand all your points!! I very much like my schedule and if it gets off track I have major anxiety! I will need to work on that. I am SO NOT a morning person! Good Luck to you and all of us during this crazy journey we are about to undertake! :monkeydance: (my daughter wanted me to click the monkeydance!)

Tell your daughter that I like the monkey dance too!!

:monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance:

dance my crazy little monkeys....(sorry I am just happy that I am finished with my prereqs)

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am really enjoying myself!

Specializes in Ambulatory Care, ED.

I am terrified. I will start a BSN program in August...I got my acceptance letter this month (early May) so it's still sinking in. I wanted this so bad and now that I got in, I am SCARED. I heard it's hard, which is to be expected. I just hope my "best" is good enough to make the grades! This will be my second BS degree so I plan on being the best student I can be!

I also wonder what my classmates will be like? Will they be accepting or so competitive that they're unfriendly and unpleasant? I hope they're awesome and that I make a few connections in school.
