MMR Immunization, and how long it takes for antigens to show

I am a nursing student and went to get my immunizations today, and found out I also need to get Titers as well. Does anyone know how long it takes for the Anti-gens to show up in your system, so the Titers will reflect them?

It depends on the vaccine, but in general it takes between 2-4 weeks to develop immunity after receiving a vaccine. Keep in mind that some immunizations such as MMR require a booster shot a month or two after the first dose and you won't be considered immunized until you have had both.

I had to get titers done too, and even though I got all the MMR shots when I was younger I failed that titer. So I went and got a 3rd MMR shot and a week later I had my blood drawn to test again for immunity and the titer showed I was immune.

My sister has had the mmr 5 or 6 times and has yet to develop titers. Think it usually takes 2-4 weeks to show positive titer

This is a very late reply but it may help a future reader. It takes 4-6 weeks to show up. You do not need to have both MMR shots as PICU RN stated. 2 shots of MMR are required for school entry however a blood titer taken after the first one (if it shows positive)) will be fine. No further booster is needed.
