Hi guys!

I'm looking for some help on two med-surg final questions. Our professor gave us these questions and the answers and i'm not sure on the correct one

1. Patient is ordered for 150mg of amoxicillin q8h. How many days will 250mL last if 5mL contains 125mg

A. 11 days B. 12 days C. 13 days D. 14 days

The answer I got was 13.8 days and we're not sure if the answer would be rounded to 14 or left at 13 because then the 14th day you wouldn't receive the full dose

2. When providing dietary teaching for a patient with NIDDM, the nurse recommends the importance of consuming the RDA of which electrolyte?

A. Potassium B. Magnesium C. Sodium Bicarb D. Sodium

In order to be in a safe side, I will pick 14 days. As for the second one, think of the major complications of Dm such as cardiac and metabolic disorders. Then out of all the options, you will pick sodium because it is one the major modifiable factors.

For the math it is 13. The questions is asking how many full days of medication. You will not have enough for the full 14th day so it is not counted. Also, when pouring a liquid med there will be some spillage and dripping for some doses. That 0.8 would tealistically be lost to waste.
