maintaining your cna license during NS?

Hello to all nursing students, I am taking my last pre-req this fall "micro" and about to take my cna 1 class. I heard that to maintain your CNA license in NC, you must complete at least eight hours of qualified work as a CNA every two years. So I was wondering did any of you just work one time somewhere for 8 hrs or are you working part-time as a CNA while in school or maybe just a week during the summer? I don't mind working as a CNA but I just want to remain focus on my studies. I want to keep up my 3.7 GPA. You comments will be gladly appreciated and thank you.

I don't have to maintain being a CCA but is it possible to just work over the summer? The nursing students at my facility work during the summer but don't work during the school term. (There are 5 of us).
