Hi all!!
the school I am attending has a waiting list for the RN program, so I decided to go the LPN program and then complete the RN bridge as soon as possible afterwards. I am wondering if I will be able to get an externship or if I will miss out on this? I am not very happy about going in to the LPN program as I have no desire to be one and will probably begin the bridge program the semester after I finish the LPN program. thanks for your help

I have a friend who works as an LPN at a nursing home only on weekends, and goes to school during the week while finishing the program for RN. They gave her a job as a supervisor (which I didn't know was in the scope of practice for LPN's) immediately after she was licensed, and she makes really good money. I guess it depends on the level of need for the facility.

Probably also depends on the state.
My study buddy is an LVN and seems very happy--we are working on the distance learning ADN through Excelsior together.
Have you checked out Deaconness? I have read (here) that it has a distance program for the whole shebang. Private school, and thus a bit expensive, and I think you have to actually go there a couple of times a semester for the skills part.
If I had it to do over again, I'd go the LVN route--
But hindsight is always 20-20, isn't it? Good luck!
