Throughout my life I have always felt a strong desire to become a nurse and my experiences' as a Certified Nursing Assistant is what has truly made me want to be a nurse. I currently work at -------- Assisted Living in --------- and have grown a new love for nursing. I love being able to interact with the residents, their families, and my co-workers. Being able to physically and mentally help the residents that I work with is very rewarding. I know that it can be challenging at times, but I have recognized during the difficult times is when I can truly apply my knowledge and skills to make a positive difference. I have loved being able to build relationships with a resident's family and earning their trust in my skills has made me love this field even more. I have learned how important teamwork is from my workers and I want to be able to pass this down to future CNAs.

One specific thing that sets nursing apart from other service-oriented careers is the use of medical science. I love learning about the physiology of the human body and I want to be able to advance my knowledge to apply these things into my practice. I have had a passion for learning my whole life and this is why school has been a huge priority for me. I am a first generation student, which can be difficult because I have had to learn the value of a good education on my own, but it has helped me set high standards for myself. It is amazing to me how the medical field continues to advance and a career in nursing will give me the opportunity for lifelong learning.

I have been able to learn important leadership skills through school and work. I was an Anatomy TA for Dr. ----- through spring and fall semester in 2016. I loved doing this because it was a challenge for me, taught me a lot, and got me out of my comfort zone. I had a short time period to teach a group of students a large amount of information so I had to time manage and decide what the group needed to I loved being able to challenge myself to find new ways to teach other students.

I volunteered at the --- Ambulance from January to mid-July 2016 and I loved that I was able to contribute my time into my hometown. My tasks included keeping inventory, cleaning the ambulances, and organizing. I felt like these were small tasks, but the team always commented on how they haven't had time to do these things and that it meant a lot. This work made me learn the importance of service and I am planning on finding new opportunities this summer.

I have absolutely have loved being a student at ------ and I would love the opportunity to continue my education in the ------ LPN Program. I want to go here because of the quality of this program and the location. This program has an excellent NCLEX passing rate, which is very important to me, as I have been researching programs. I have worked under many excellent nurses that have received their education though this program. These nurses have shown leadership, knowledge, and service through their work and it is because of this excellent program. These nurses have been excellent examples to me and I want to be able to pass on this example.

My career goals consist of successfully completing the LPN program as well as the RN program through ------. Once I pass the NCLEX I will work at ----- Hospital so that I can learn essential skills in this working environment. I will promptly complete my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing through ---- State University. My ultimate goal is to work as a Hospice Nurse because I truly feel like my personality and mindset will fit this career perfectly. I plan to live and raise my future family in ---- County, I think that this is a great community and I have really enjoyed growing up here. My personal goals consist of continuing to learn, teach, and find new ways to serve others. I am at a time in my life that I know I am fully prepared for this program and I will put everything into it in order to be successful.

Hi :)

So, I can tell you put a lot of effort into your essay, and it shows!

I will admit to drifting off a bit while reading it, because of redundancies.

I know you said there was no word requirement, but I have frequently seen 500 max words for these types of essays in other programs. It might be good to stick around there for length.

My worry is that your point wont get across clearly with the length that it is now. I would probably go back through it and try to make it shorter with the most impactful statements you can.

Also, look into nursing buzz words and add those, like "critical thinking", "positive impact on patient outcomes", etc.

Good luck!!

Thank you for your input, it really helps!:) I will go back through and try to cut it down!
