Alright, so I have my first check off skill this Thursday. For this class, we have scenarios in which we have to check off the skill.
I'm looking at them and one entails that you (the RN) are told by the CNA that a pt's IV pump is beeping and the bag appears to be empty (the bag is NS).
Maybe I'm making this way more complicated than it needs to be... but when changing bags of the same fluid, it's not necessary to change the tubing (unless it has been more than 72 hours/whatever protocol is at your institution or if there is something wrong with it), correct? I just need to spike the new bag and go?

Yes. Good luck with your skills test!
Thanks!

You are correct. You may hear the word "superimposed" used to indicate that a new IV bag was hung on an existing IV line.
