I am Thankful

Last night, I learned that I passed my Medical Surgical exam, and consequently the class.

I'm happy because that class brought me to my lowest of lows. I hadn't felt so useless and powerless since my first year of college in 2009, and I had ended up dropping out of college then because I couldn't handle the feeling of helplessness.

I reluctantly say that I'm happy I survived the class instead of giving up like I wanted to.

Somehow, the experience has proven to me that I will succeed in Nursing School. I'm sure more difficulties await me, but after having survived this experience--after being told by the professor that she would kick me out of the program, failing an exam horribly right after taking out a 12K loan to pay for the class, crying in the bathroom on multiple occasions, being on i95 for 2 hours just to get to class and clinical, and being threatened with termination from my job for studying while I was at work.....

After going through that, and seeing my average rise from a D to a B right at the very end, I am happy, I am rejuvenated, and most of all I am Thankful.

Yes I have had a similar experience last semester when my professor basically to me she didn't believe I will make it through and another telling me she couldn't believe I even passed my first semester! O_0 I do admit I had my doubts too but those were the experiences I needed to help me push through.

In my opinion passing is a great feeling to everyone but isn't as appreciated as much without struggle. So keep up the good work and keep on pushing through.

Good luck and congrats!

You know. Something similar happened to me. I worked so hard the last half of the class, and passed also. I was missing the understanding of what was happening. I ended up getting a tutor and purchasing Hurst Reviews. I studied during the class, but on my break, I went over Hurst Reviews again until I just had it the best I could. Hurst gave me the basic understanding of what was happening. It was explained simply.

The next semester I purchased Feuer, and spent 8 weeks listening to it especially med surg and pharm. When I took my exit exam, I was able to pass with 98% chance of passing nclex. I was surprised, since I had such a hard time with med surg.
