Hi All!
I am so excited, I just have to share...yesterday, I got to be in the OR and watch while my sister have her baby via c-sect! Now, if you have read some of my other postes, you will know that I was not happy about her having the cs in the first place, but I couldn't change her mind, so...
Anyway, I stood right beside her head and watched the whole thing! For those of you who don't know, I don't even start clinicals until the Fall. I used to think that I wanted to be an L&D nurse, but now I'm wondering if I could be a surgi nurse??
Okay, that's all for now. Thanks for letting me share the great experience I had.
Oh, one more thing...I was worried about being weak stomached and stuff, not any more! I didn't puke or pass out or anything! :)

I saw a c-section too while volunteering in surgery. I thought it was pretty amazing too. I was mostly surprised by the amount of fluid that came out and how roughly they pulled on the uterus. I didn't get sick either and it actually helped me on an anatomy test that I took a few days later. We were going over muscles at the time. I have been thinking about being an OR nurse since then too. I am going to wait for clinicals to make up my mind though as I am also interested in OB and pediatrics. Who knows, ther may even be other areas that I am interested in too. That is one of the great things about nursing. Not only do we get so many choices, but once working as a nurse you can always change to another area too if you want a change. One of the things that was also kind of neat about the c-section was that the baby's name was Anthony and that is my son's name.
