I am about to start school (like next Thursday), and I hope to form a good study group. I have never studied in a group before, and I wanted to know what you guys consider to be a good study partner. Also, some things to avoid.

Any and all advice will be great!!

Me, myself, and I. Seriously, I prefer to study alone in a nice, quiet place without all the "drama" involved in study groups. You don't have to worry about everyone's schedule, or someone just not getting it and asking the same question over and over (basically wanting you to spoon feed them the information):banghead:. If someone from the group gets a grade considerably less than the rest for whatever reason they get upset. (We had one girl swear that we had study groups without her which was why she wasn't scoring as high as us), last minute cancellations. A lot of the time the group turned into gossip sessions, "can you believe she asked that or what do you think of so and so". It turned out that the study group was more trouble than it was worth. I also found I was more focused when I studied alone, could take a break when needed, etc.

I would see how you do on your own and then if you really feel like you need a group go with the above advice about students with grades similar to your own and that seem to be as diligent and on the same wave-length as you. But don't be shy about "bailing" on the group if you see it isn't working out as planned.
