How to get the most out of the allnurses website??!

Hello all, somewhat new to this site. :yes: I have been addicted to reading others posts ever since I came across the site. I have noticed a few of you to be quite popular on here as well and would like to know how I too, could get the most out of this site? How do I get people to notice my posts & how do I know if what I post is appropriate for the site or what others would like to read? (My first post was kind of me just venting about my experience getting through nursing school, balancing life & just looking for advice but I guess this site isn't the place for all of that...it has since been removed) Anyways, I'd love to get "to know" some of you. :) I have completed all of my prerequisites for LPN and am only 2 short of RN. My school then has 9 credit classes known as Nursing 1 & Nursing 2 for LPN and Nursing 3 & 4 for RN. I am currently in Nursing 1. It has been a tough ride, which I am sure you all can relate but am appreciative of any advice you may have to offer regarding nursing school or just the site. Thank you, all ahead of time!

What are you looking to get?

Why do you want others to read your threads? (Comments? Help with assignments? Support? Kudos for a funny article? Similar responses? Advice?) you need to know why you want others to read your posts before others can advise.

As far as appropriate, start with the site terms of service. Each forum has a short description for example if you need homework help post in student assistance but don't say do my homework. Posts that describe the assignment, the member lists what they have done or researched in search of an answer and perhaps articulate where they are stuck/confused. Many members will come to help. There's two good running threads one I think "what is wrong with my patient" it started off rough but the student updated and the members filled in the blanks with information and support. Another was questioning why a particular IV fluid was ordered. There are several great posts not only from students but experienced nurses.

Sometimes it's tough to read the truth when you are overwhelmed looking for support. When in crisis step away from the keyboard and try and look at the perspective of others. Experience counts. Just because it's not what you wanted to hear doesn't mean that it's mean, wrong or attack. Just maybe a different point of view

Just to clarify...the post you are referring to was pulled at your request. There was nothing wrong with it as far as staff was concerned.

Thank you, JustBeachyNurse! I didn't know if there was a certain purpose for this website or if it was free to question whatever your heart desires. I would just like to be able to utilize the site to connect with other nurses/students!

It's a professional forum for nurses and students. Know that this is readable worldwide and not everyone is a nurse or student. Know this. Most common are in controversial threads. Some are obvious and admit they are not nurses others put on a good show but the experienced nurses can easily identify.

Non nursing questions such as what is on TV or in the movies go in the break room. Students have a section. All sections have descriptions on the website
