How good are you at teaching patients?

This part frustrates me most. I don't know how to teach. I just don't know all the details about any one issue/illness/etc. I did pass NCLEX with 75 on the first try, but that's because I have the understanding of things and some basic knowledge. I can pick from provided options, but more often than not I cannot come up with them myself. There's no way I can provide a complete detailed information about ANYTHING. Nothing just comes up to my mind, just some scattered facts that are far and away from a clear/complete picture that would actually help the patient.

Anyone else having this problem?

I am only starting nursing school but I do teach card making classes. I know that for me, when I feel good about knowing something it is much easier to teach.

For example: If you are teaching a diabetic to give themselves a shot. If you have had lots of practice you will be able to explain it more easily than if it your your first time actually doing it.

Practice is key, the more experience you get the easier it will become.

I don't have a problem with explaining sinple thing like how to administer a shot, or when to take a drug... It's complex things, like diet, food choices for each condition, or explaining in detail diseases and treatments... things that are supposed to be done by doctors/specialists.
