how do you prepare?

just wanted to get a general idea on how other fellow nursing stdents prepared for exams. do you study the powerpoint, concepts maps, focus on the objectives, the key terminology and definitions, the nursing process for each chapter your focusing on. different color pens to memorize or take a 10 min break in between studying .. using nclex websites or review books? whats worked best for you and what do you primarily focus on?

The best way is to review the information the instructor went over. Understand your role as the nurse. the various aspects of the nursing process. Be familiar with the test to confirm a diagnosis. Also be familiar with lab values associated with diagnosis. Know various nursing diagnosis for each. Most importantly patient teaching, and medication.

The best way is to do a concept map of the disorder and incorporate all to ensure you have reviewed.

I study the powerpoints, the notes I took during lecture, and what the readings from the books say. I look at the entire nursing process for each disease, injury, or illness, and I read carefully over what the nurse's responsibility is during each step of the process. Throughout the reading, I make notecards based on the powerpoints, my lecture notes, and the books. Our instructor gives us a very generalized study guide, and I focus on the points found on her study guide. Once I've finished the readings, I go over and over the notecards I've made. I match them up, I memorize them, I do anything I need to in order to get the information into my head.
