Haven't some 2nd thoughts about Nursing...

Nursing Students General Students

Published

I made this account because I have been having some apprehensions about my major that hopefully I can get some advice on.

I'm a second-year Nursing student (technically a junior, undeclared freshman year), and I am contemplating switching my major. I really love the patient interaction that I get with Nursing, but I don't really

enjoy the content in the classes. I have pretty good grades (cumulative-3.98), and one of the main reasons I chose Nursing is because I didn't know what I wanted to do. My mom is a NP, and she always pushed me to get a BSN. I love my instructors and the students in the program, but I don't feel excited about learning the content. I took Gen Chem I & II and Physics I, and I really enjoyed the classes (maybe the only classes I have enjoyed besides patho and A&P).

I was thinking about either switching my major to Biology (pre-med), or take the classes during the summer on top of Nursing (or whenever I can fit the classes in..but it will be difficult I know😕). With the nursing program I'll already be a year behind so I've already excepted the fact that I'm going to graduated late😅.

Has anyone ever heard of a person doing this? I want to talk to my advisors, but I feel like they would think I am not committed to nursing anymore...

Thank you for reading!
