Giving Feedback in Nursing Practice

Hello

Im a first year nursing student.

I have a question.

In the real Nursing environment, nurses:nurse: of course give/recieve feedback

each other, right?

What is feedback within nursing practice - what is the definition? and what's the difference between feedback in nursing and feedback in some other organization?

And also, please give me an example of giving feedback between nurses (may be between NUM and RN) and could you also tell me about the importance of feedback as well?

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

feedback is response to our actions. it could also be thought of as evaluation, or appraisal. evaluation is the 5th step of the nursing process which has to do with determining if goals that were established have been met. in nursing jobs our goals as employees that we are expected to follow are assigned tasks for the job we do as well as follow the facility policy and procedures, if we are licensed we have legal standards we must also adhere to. the only difference between the feedback in nursing compared to that in other organizations is in the specific information being evaluated--it is industry specific.

as a former supervisor and manager,
formal
feedback consisted of
written
evaluations and counselings or disciplinary actions. they would be delivered in a private and confidential setting and the structure of the evaluation covered the person's performance of the duties of their job. an example of this is the yearly evaluation which was also tied in to the yearly raise. discipline and counseling addressed failure to follow policies, procedures, and licensed practice issues and allows the manager to inform and teach the employee; it allows the employee to learn and correct their practice. an example of a common disciplinary counseling i was required to do was for attendance problems (missing more days of work than facility policy allowed).
