how do you guys call it...joe of all trades?

in this case "roger of all trades" i suppose.

my name is rogelio, roger for my loved nurses and related subdivisions. i am mexican by birth and american by the little american every human has inside. i live in dallas tx.

evidently, i am new to these fantastic and entertaining forums and new-new to nursing.

i say new-new because of cause of economical reasons i will not start on my nursing program until spring 2005, which breaks my hearth because, with the exception of being a father someday soon and marring the love of my life (which ever comes first but only with the same lady ;) ) i day dream about being a nurse.

i was in the entertainment industry for 10 years, made my way from pusher (pushing road cases inside trailers) to production manager of one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world, cie.

as i said i dream of becoming a dad someday, hopefully twice hence i decided to leave the entertainment world and do something a little more family compatible.

show industry is a family murder that only few survive mainly because the long periods away from home (more than 3 months sometimes, once i knew a guy that had not seen his wife and two daughters for more than a year).

so i became it tech............ and we all know how it went :(

then, my ex wife became wealthy in the real estate boom and that plus accumulation of many things i did wrong (according to her anyway) provoked my divorce (for which i thank god day and night).

a bad year i had, divorce, loneliness... so finally i said, that is it, i lost weight, got in the mood and posted an ad in match.com and starting dating...... with not much luck, girls say "i kissed many frogs" i don't know what applies to guys.

so one day, this gorgeous girl sends me an instant message, i read her profile and truth to be told the first thing i saw was her incredible smile, she dressed in a vanilla dress, then a picture of her in a red chinese outfit, wow mamacita!!!

and the title of her profile which will stick to me until the day i die:

"nurse for hire to provide tlc"

someday if someone asks for it i will elaborate our love story.

anyway so i felt in love with this wonderful person, who happens to be a nurse and has been for 7 years. she is one of those nurses who dreamed of being a nurse since she was a little girl and made it on her own.

one day, i was being lazy in her couch in front of the tv reading some magazines and talking about her career, she said i remembered her of some guy in the cover of a nurse magazine, i think the nurse magazine is called nursing 2003 and this article talked about the need of male nurses in the industry.

well, that article and seeing my love do her work, her coworkers and just plain seeing her in her scrubs made my mind forever.

they say, we all are meant to be something and the love of my life showed me what my calling in life is.

i never really wanted to be anything in this life, i just kind of did what was there and i am always excellent in whatever i do so i never had problems work wise, i drive a truck these days because that is what is available and i just happen to know how to drive an 18 wheeler but man, do i dream of being a nurse?

every day for the last 8 months i dream of it.

my dream is of becoming an er nurse, then get experience to become a flight nurse in a helicopter and someday become a mentor for other male nurses.

well, now i say bye, sorry for the long introduction and i know you think i am a psycho and have issues.... but not i am just so exited to be here among so many colleges to be.

nurses rule!
