I have searched the forums for info on FCCJ and found a little but not a lot. My questions are there any teachers that you would strongly recommend or not recommend and why? Also, how is there program and any other pointers you have about FCCJ in general and their nursing program would be great.

Thanks,

Hey! I went to FCCJ for some of my prereq classes. I went to the Southside Blvd. campus. I didn't apply for their nursing program because my husband and I were moving back to Alabama. If you haven't taken microbiology yet I would take Davis. She is a great teacher and I made an easy A in there.

That is one of the classes I was concerned about so thanks for the info!!

Hey! Davis teaches micro out at the campus of highway 17 past NAS Jax. I took AP 1 & 2 from Dr. Harima out at the campus off Southside Blvd but I don't know that I would recommend him. I made B's in both classes but I don't think he taught that well. I had to learn alot on my own. Hope this helps.

I loved Dr. Harima's A&P 1/2 (deerwood campus)!!! Also, Hill is a good micro teacher at the Beach blvd campus. :)

As far as the program itself, I think it was a great experience. The clinical time was excellent if you used it to get as much experience as possible. I had fellow students that had made it to graduation and never given an IM injection! One the other hand, By 2nd sem clinicals, I had the opportunity to perform nearly every "skill" I would face as a ~new~ nurse.

Instructors that absolutely rock (you will have to find out the bad ones on your own, lol:D):

Pat Acedara (med/surg I )

Dr. Linda Hunter (peds)

Maureen Ricotello (O/B specifically)

Denise Figueroa (Psych)

Yuba Boateng (med/surg I & leadership)

Jan Abich (med/surg II)

Denise Krawtz (health assessment)

Williams and Mackey (lectures wander but she is pretty cool) are ok for Psych and Peds respectively, but the above are better as far as clinical instructors.

Any of the teachers on the list are HIGHLY recommended for whatever they may be teaching in 1st Term. For the most part, they are all 2nd-4th term instructors!

Thanks guys for your help!!!:)
