I am going to start Nursing School in August-It will be a career change for me. I have never worked in the medical field, only the corporate. My Reasons for wanting to be a Nurse, is I have a strong desire to help others, and make a positive impact on other peoples lives, I also have a strong interest in Medical procedures. But I do fear, that I might get quesy at certain situations, and fear that I would not make a good nurse?

I have the desire and drive to push myself through Nursing school, but has anyone had to deal with the fears of not being able to handel the nursing career beforehand?

Yep..I too, worry about passing out or barfing on a patient. Its totally normal. I am in my second semester in nursing school and my first semester clinicals I didn't puke, pass out, or anything else. But some smells gross you out but you just gain your composure by walking out of the room or sitting down a second. You will do fine. We all worry though, b/c no one wants to be embarrassed. But patients are very welcoming and (atleast for me) they have been so helpful and kind and understand how nerve-wracking it is to be a student. So give yourself a shot and just know that we are all nervous. I get nervous thinking about clinical coming up in March.. :)

Thank you all for the support, I think its a career that is so rewarding in so many ways, the rewards will somehow get you over this funky stuff? At least I hope...Thanks for the encouragement!
