Well long story short, I am a currently finishing my Bachelors in Psychology, and I have decided to pursue a second degree in nursing; however I have been doing some research and I have been thinking about applying to Concorde's school of nursing, their RN program in the Dallas, Tx. metroplex. But I have been told by some of my customers at my current job that Concorde is not accredited.

So is Concorde a good school? Or should I apply to the Universities I have had in mind, UTA and Tarleton State (my current school)?

Thank you!

Brandie

Isn't Concorde one of the bad-reputation proprietary schools chains? According to the website, they are approved by the BON (they would have to be in order to operate and for graduates to be eligible for licensure), but there's nothing about ACEN accreditation (the voluntary, national nursing-specific accrediting organization that accredits undergraduate nursing programs). The overall school is accredited by one of the organizations that only accredits proprietary tech/voc schools.

According to the TX BON website, the RN program is new as of last year (which means it wouldn't be possible for it to have ACEN accreditation yet; maybe they are planning to pursue it as time passes), and the 2015 pass rate on the NCLEX was 31.58% (the lowest of any RN program in the state). Not encouraging ...

And the school website says that the program costs ~$44,000?? IMO, that's highway robbery (I wouldn't encourage anyone to pay that much for an associate's degree program with a great reputation and high NCLEX pass rates!) What is it that is attracting you to Concorde? Is there something about it that seems more appealing to you than the other schools you mention considering?
