choosing nursing school

Hi, all ! l really need your help. l am considering transfer to Adelphi , Hunter and City tech

nursing.

l heard hunter is really really competitive and even so hard to get into the program,

adelphi, l have no information and as well City tech.

l really want to be a nurse but choosing school is very overwealming. l have currently 3.4

GPA in pre-requirement courses. Please help me out !!!!

Well don't avoid applying to a school because it might be hard to get in to...

I'm not in your area - but I have applied to 4 programs at 3 different schools in my area. I have a good GPA, but one of the schools (2 of the programs, a 2nd bachelor's program, and a standard BSN program - my 1st and 3rd choice, respectively) is CRAZY competitive; they have 35-40 seats available and usually take at least 400 applications (per program).

I am not confident about getting in there, although I would be happy if I did.

My 2nd choice is a smaller public college about a half hour away from me - it's an ADN program, but after the first semester, they will allow me to start taking up to 2 BSN classes per semester - so when I'm done with the RN program, I'll only have 5 classes left to have a BSN. It's actually a great program and I would be very happy there - and MY GPA and TEAS score have guaranteed me a seat.

My last choice is an ADN program at yet another small public college - but they wont let me do BSN classes until I have my RN (which is why it is my last choice). Quite honestly, the only reason I applied there is as a backup in case something goes horribly wrong and I can't get into my top 3 choices (one of which is a sure thing - they've even called me to offer me scholarships before I've even been accepted into the program...).

My point in all of this is that you need to apply everywhere you can see yourself being reasonably happy if you end up having to go there. The only reasons to not apply would either be the program has an awful reputation - or it's a for profit school that cares about the money more than the students and patients - or it's a private college that will cost more than you want to spend and they won't help you enough with financial aid.

Other than that - apply everywhere you can. Don't limit yourself, because your one choice might not even accept you - or what you see as your 2nd or 3rd choice might offer you a financial aid/scholarship package that forces it into the #1 spot.

Apply to all three, then make your choice based on who extends an offer.
