Nursing Students General Students

Hello, I started nursing school 2 weeks ago. Today my instructor had the class take the ATI Fundamentals online practice test 2014A. She said it wasnt for a grade but just for a "starting point" to monitor our progress. Has anyone taken this before? I got a 35%, obviously thats a horrible grade but she said it didnt matter. I've never worked in health care before but some of the other students were saying they got much higher scores. If youve taken it what was your score? Im curious and cant find anything on the internet about it. Thanks!

Relax. It truly is just used to establish a benchmark for where you start. Don't freak out if they require you to re-take this on a periodic basis. The school will then be able to track your progress and pinpoint areas in which you may need more help. Many schools are doing this now - it's a great way to make sure that no students fall between the cracks.

Yep, it is just a pretest to see how much you know without any medical knowledge. Those that made higher scores may have been in other medical positions (CNA, LVN,parmacy etc). Do not worry! If your final predictor score is still 35%...then you can worry :) Good luck and best wishes for nursing school!
