Hi, I was wondering if anyone here is going to nursing school in Indianapolis, IN. I have been accepted into Ivy Tech State Colleges' Nursing Program (ASN), I start In August. I was wanting some insight on what the program is like and how the teachers are. I would like to mentally prepare myself as much as possible as to what is to come. Thanks

I do go to school in Indianapolis, but I go to IUPUI. Sorry I can't help you...good luck with school.

Congratulations on being accepted into the nursing program at Ivy Tech!! I hope you like the program. I won't be able to help you though because I also go to IUPUI.

WOW!!!! Hi all!! I am also attending IUPUI! I haven't been accepted into nursing school yet. I am applying for the Fall Semester!!

Sorry I don't know anything about Ivy Tech's program though!!

Hi Guys, Well here at Ivy Tech it is very competitive to get into the actual nursing program. They only accept 60 people a year for the RN program. 300 took the NET test, only 161 passed and were eligible for consideration and only 60 were accepted based on G.P.A

Hi Guys, Well here at Ivy Tech it is very competitive to get into the actual nursing program. They only accept 60 people a year for the RN program. 300 took the NET test, only 161 passed and were eligible for consideration and only 60 were accepted based on points for what grades you have for your prerequistes( for math/science classes you get 6 pts for an A, 4pts for a B, and 2 for a C. For Non-math/science courses such as english/phsycology you get 3pts for an A, 2pts for a B, and 1pt. for a C). They also go by what you got on your NET ( Nursing Entrance Test ) 60-70%= 10 pts, 71-80%= 20pts, 81-90%=30pts, 91-100%=40pts. Who ever has the most points gets in. They only accept once a year in the fall for 60 students so it is really competitive. You have to have as much points as possible racked up the previous fall i.e fall 2002 to apply by that december so that the commitee can sort out the results and tell you who gets in for the next fall i.e fall 2003. I started in the fall of 2001 starting on my prereqs so I obviously didnt have any points to apply for fall 2002. So I did all my prereqs accept one that I will do this summer and took the NET and applied this fall to get in next fall, from then the nursing program is Two years, so it will basically take me 4 years to get my Associate of Science in Nursing. Confusing? It always is when I try and explain why on earth it is taking so long to get a "two year" degree. It really takes 3- 4 because of the competitiveness and limited space in the program. But I am told by several hospitals that the Ivy Tech graduates are very well prepared(one the best in the state) with knowlege and clinical skills and that hospitals look to hire their grads. Also that Ivy techs' graduate nurses have the highest pass rate in the State with a 99% pass rate for Nursing Board Exams. So I wanted to be in this program. I did get for this Fall 2003 with a 4.0 Gpa and 30 points from the net. But now I a little worried about the workload to come. I also heard the teachers are tough and the grading scale is different 95% and above is an A for example. Ahhhhhhhhhh!
