A little background I am taking my final prereqs for my ADN program. I am a mathematics tutor. I basically have straight Bs in my prereqs with a 3.25 GPA. I am told I am a good candidate, but ultimately its not the counselors who decide if I get in. I have 39 credit hours.

If I don't get in this fall I don't intend on giving up. I want to become a pct, and enter into a university, and try again. I am hoping to have my GPA up to about 3.4 after this semester. I currently work as a mathematics tutor. I tutor statistics, algebra, and foundational math.

If I get in I know what I am doing going for RN obviously, but what should I do if I don't get in. Transfer to a 4 year, and try again. Should I become a PCT before that?

Can you retake any classes to get some As in there? Do you have an entrance exam to take? If you are asking whether or not becoming a PCT will make you a better candidate, I don't know. Each school has different requirements. At mine, it does not make a difference. It really depends on the requirements of each program.

I can retake English 101. I got an A in 102. So I figure I can turn that c into an A. I have done the math. It goes to 3.4 if I get the A in 101. If I get a 4.0 this semester. I go in with a 3.45. If I can get a 4.0 this semester, and replace that C in 101 I have a 3.55. If I get a 4.0 next semester it goes to 3.6. So I figure I CAN DO THIS WHOOHOO.

Figure out the factoring system at your college of chice and make a plan. Is it strictly GPA? One college I applied at was only the grade for 3 classes, and an accuplacer test. I was waitlisted because mynchem grade wasnt great. However my school of choice was much harder. They required the science classes that most do A&P, micro, chem, cell bio. But they needed a lot of other claases to. I did the math series through stats, phych ect. But they offered bnus point for extra humanities, eng 102, communication. I took every possible point I could. I studdied my butt off and picked up extra credit on the teas. They had a essay and resume for the application. Those points are harder to quanify sonit gives them wiggle room on points. I proofed it and really made sure to gear it for nursing. I also worked as a CNA which aquired more points. It was a total picture that earned a student a spot there. Luckily I got in. My grades on all of my classes were a 3.5. But it was the big picture that got me in. 22 were accepted and there are historically over 100 applicants.

So dont stress about a specifc grade, instead make specific plan for each school.
