Hello everyone,

Now this is a story everyone heard. I don't to blame anyone, but myself. Last spring I started nursing school part time. Now I should have wait until I was in a better place with myself. I am 22.I am supporting myself completely, and my mother who is aboard. Last spring everything went down the drain for me, my mother got sick so i had to be sending more money and support myself, I got raped and truly that the first time i am admitting it (currently in therapy). I got so stressed and depressed that I didn't want to live anymore and was going crazy. I acted like nothing was going wrong. Now i had my share of struggle in NYC. With only that being said, I was doing well at school. I did well on the first exams but after that I couldn't keep my focus. The week of finals, I had to fly home cause my mom got worst. Upon coming back I was allowed to take them but on their terms which I had only 2 days to study for all 3, but we all know nursing is hard that wouldn't work out well. I took 2 of these exams. One i got a C and the other i failed and the other I just didn't take. My gpa went down to a 3.0. I wasn't dismissed from the program but i withdraw and changed my major. Nursing is my true passion and that is the only career i see myself in. After thinking hard all summer I decided to go back to finish my BS in science which i got one more year to go. My question here and concerns is will other nursing school accept me? I have my eye on NYU accelerated, Colombia accelerated program , Pace and many other private school. Please, please, please give me advice. People who had apply to those schools too, or went back to nursing

I am not the smartest person , but i am driven, strong and can achieve anything. Please give some advice anyone.

It is possible to be accepted to nursing schools after being dismissed/withdrawing/failing out of another program. It might be tough, but, it is possible. I would suggest that you call the schools you are planning on applying to and see what their policy is on this. Tell them the relevant parts of your history with your previous school and see where they guide you.

You state that you were not dismissed from the program but rather you withdrew, do you know the school's policy on this? Will they take you back? Have you called to talk to them about this?

Before you go back to nursing school whether it be your old school or an accelerated program...make sure you feel emotionally and physically ready. You want to make sure you set yourself up for success. Best wishes.
