Adult Nursing I and Health Assessment

I understand all schools are not that same, but can someone give me info. on what I will be studying in the classes below:

1. Adult Nursing I

2. Health Assessment

I want to get a jump start on preparing for the classes. Any tips, etc. will be greatly appreciated.

Health Assessment will probably cover how to do a head to toe pt assessment, covering all of the different body systems (i.e. respiratory, GI, etc), and learning what 'normal' assessment results would be.

Adult Nursing I...I am guessing this is the same as Med-Surg, which is again usually divided by the different body systems, but in this course you learn more about 'abnormal' by studying the different disease processes, sx, and nursing care.

I always recommend that students have at least 1 NCLEX review book. Different people like different books, but my favorite is the "Reviews and Rationales" series by Mary Ann Hogan. If you're able to, get a few to try out, or flip through a classmate's review book to see if it's something you might like.

Anyway, a good NCLEX review book can (and should!) be used as a supplement to help study for all of your classes. Other than that, I can't say I have any recommendations for additional books that are specific to those classes.
