AANP FNP Passed Exam!

Hey guys, I just wanted to take the time to offer my insight on the AANP exam. I passed it and I was reading a lot of your posts, feeling very anxious and didn't know what to think of the test. And some of your posts were very helpful so I'm just giving back.

I studied about 7 weeks but I also took breaks in between. I think you can truly study for it for a month. I was doing full time work 12 hour shifts and just took a week off leading up to my exam. I think if you really force yourself to stay focused, you can succeed in studying for just a month.

Books I used: Fitzgerald - briefly, but it was so detailed. I looked over it once and didn't after Barkley - very easy to understand and grasp information. Leik - my favorite and I recommend it as an absolute must! I didn't really like the Leik questions so much. Most topics were covered from the two books so if you just study those you should really be ok. Also I recommend taking the AANP practice exam - it's $50 but totally worth it, maybe a week before the exam to see how you are. Some questions are similar to how the exam will be so you have an idea.

Overall, you guys can do it. I promise you it really is not as bad as it seems. Yes some questions are straightforward and some make you critically think but always put yourself in the NP's shoes to help you answer the questions. If you think that way you can really narrow it down to the right answer.

Good luck everyone!
