3.2 Junior in College

Nursing Students General Students

Hey, I am new to allnurses. I am a junior in college and I am interested in becoming a nurse. I don't really have that many prereqs done but once I graduate I would like to start a program. I am currently living in NC but I am willing to move. What type of programs should I look at? I am currently thinking about the ADN so I can finish up pretty fast while still learning at an appropriate speed for me. However, I do not want to get on a waiting list.

Thank you and please help a brother out.

Your GPA is not too shabby, especially since you have some pre-requisites left. If you ace those courses, you could definitely get up to ~ 3.5 which is definitely in the running for most programs. You'll also have to shoot for a very high score on any standardized admission test... this is required by most programs in order for them to level the grade inflation playing field.

Don't be tempted by the 'fast and easy' route. Without a BSN, your chances of employment in a hospital will be extremely limited, and acute care is where career advancement is most likely to happen.

Best of luck on your nursing education pathway.
