Hi,

I am new here. I have introduced myself already. I am from Germany and hoping to study in the States soon.

How is your curriculum arranged? I mean how is your program (AD) build up ?

I am just interested.

Over here we did the heart, lungs, muscle and sceleton system, skin and are now on the digestive system, that is in anatomy.

Other classes are Religion, Communication, Pathology, CHemistry, physics, etc.

Today is my second day in the clinic. I was assigned on the orthopedic floor with another girl from my class. Our first semester will end march 23rd.

It is different at every school. A pre-req at one school may not be needed at all at another (my school does not require patho), others are pre-reqs to RN programs while some you just have to complete before graduation.

Specializes in OB.

I had to do pre reqs of Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, English, speech, college level math, Humanities, Ethics, Sociology, Psychology, Child Development.

then the program is 2 years. Lectures, clinicals including Med/Surg, OR, Orhto/nuero, Peds, OB, outpatient, Critical Care, Psych, Community

i have another question: what are pre reqs? remember i am from germany ;) he he.

Pre reqs are prerequisites - classes that usually must be completed before entering a particular academic program (such as nursing).

so before i could apply for the nursing program, i would have to apply at the college for english, biology, anatomy and whatever the prereqs are? how long do i have to take those classes?

or are those classes s.o. can take at US high schools?

sorry i am confused :(

yes, they have to be done to get into most programs, and no, high school ones dont count. these are college level classes, the ones I mentioned. (AP, Micro, Englisg, etc)

do some checking into the school that you wish to attend and see what their requirments are. The pre reqs took me a year and 1/2, but I only took 2 or 3 classes at a time.

also- you may already know this but most nursing schools in the US have long lines of students trying to get in. You will need a very good gpa and still may possibly get wait listed. Just because you have everything done doesnt automatically mean acceptance into a program

The program I am in has 65 spots and over 270 applied for those.

good luck!
