Did you write a letter of resignation? Inform you boss face to face? email? Phone call?

I told my manager shortly after accepting my new job. However, this was about 4+ weeks prior to the last day I planned to work. I told my new job that I was going to work out the duration of our current schedule (I was precepting, also), and they were fine with that. I also gave a proper 2 weeks notice, in writing, with notice of the last shift I intended to work, but my manager appreciated the additional heads up.

After being treated unfairly and putting up with crap for too long. I planned my resignation for three straight months. I used up all floating holidays, personals days etc. Then I stayed out on sick leave to use up all my sick days. Then I took my letter of resignation to my nurse manager after dropping my son off to school. I was due back that same day on the night shift. The resignation was effective immediately.

I didn't care. Just like management didn't care that we were always working short. Or that they get to fire you effective immediately and don't care if you can feed your family.
