Research Jobs in Houston,TX, any tips?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello all. I am considering going into research nursing and was wondering if there is any advice you all can give me. I have 2 years of Nursing experience ( Nursing Home, Observation Unit, and Med Surg). Is this enough experience for this position? What are some expectations for me as an applicant or person applying for the job? (In regards to skills, things to know, etc.) For those that are research nurses, how do you all enjoy it? I read it can be very busy, but do you feel like it is busy like in the unit (not sure how to describe busy on unit, but I guess how some nurses state, so busy can't use restroom, sit, or take a break), or some other kind of busy? (not sure how to properly phrase that question). If any are research nurses in Houston, if you don't mind, how is your day like? How is the job? Pros/cons? Any/all tips helpful. Thanks in advance for your response.

Like research coordinator? Or inpatient, like Covance? seems like research can take place in many different settings, so the skill set required and work environment may vary by quite a bit.

So the positions that I normally see available are, Clinical Research Nurse, in institutions such as MD Anderson (Oncology), Methodist Hospital (acute care), and UT Health.
