Nurses married to law enforment officers?

I'm new here and just curious....Is it me and my group of friends or are there a lot of nurses (or medical professionals) that are married/dating people in law enforcement? What is the connection there?

I'm still taking prereqs to get into nursing school and I'm hoping to enter the program in fall 2008. My husband is a federal agent. When we met (almost 13 years ago) I worked in a pediatric office as a biller and he was in finance/mortgages. I can count at least 5 friends of ours that are nurses/Drs that are dating/married to law enforcement officers.

Anyone else in a similar relationship?

I'm married to a fireman- he was 28 and I was 21. We met while volunteering on a fire department (he was ate up, now is down to earth).

I am now a nursing student, with 3 more semesters to go.

I also remeber hearing (in some marriage and the family class) that nurses and police officers have the highest divorce rate than other occupations..hope that isn't the connnection.

my husband is also a police officer. we have been married for 8 years and he has only been a police officer for the last 2 1/2. there are only a couple of other guys that he works with that are married to people in medical field. most of the wives of his fellow officers stay at home with the kids.

My husband-to-be pulled me over on my bicycle for riding around at night w/o a light. After we started dating he kind of introduced me to EMS...where he works all officers must also be EMT's. I started working w/ the local ambulance.

The rest is history (married two years now). I think both occupations are honest and trustworthy. They both deal w/ crazy stuff while having to keep a cool heads. Both must think on thier feet, and having a partner who thrives in that type of atmosphere as well is a huge plus.
