Newborn..Risk for ineffective airway clearance

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm doing a careplan on a c-section newborn

I want by priority nursing dx to be risk for ineffective airway clearance because the newborn developed a croupy cough. She also had weak muscle tone.

Would an appropriate nursing dx be: Risk for ineffective airway clearance r/t nasal and oral secretions and weak muscle tone.

Or is the nasal and oral secretions more of an AEB?

Maybe the dx should be related to the c-section since babies have a higher chance of having respiratory issues with c-sections.

So maybe Risk for ineffective airway clearance r/t maternal surgical intervention AEB nasal and oral secretions and weak muscle tone?

Thanks everyone!
