New BSN Grad: 3 months before job starts after NCLEX..what to do in meantime

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I will soon be a new nurse graduate (fast track program finishing this month) and have signed up for a position as a nurse in the military starting in April. I plan to take my boards in November and travel/spend time with family in December, but in terms of finances and experience, I am worried about all of the time off January through March..any suggestions/recommendations would be much appreciated for ways to fill this time by working as a nurse or at least in some capacity in the healthcare world. I just don't think anyone will want to hire me as a new nurse for three months as this is the traditional training time for new graduates. I will do just about anything if it pertains to my career at all- I will give routine shots or work in nontraditional nursing roles- whatever really! I looked into humanitarian opportunities both home and abroad, but the ones I've found either want experience or lots of money out of pocket from me as the volunteer. Thanks
