Hello! I'm in need of some feedback regarding a situation I'm currently in.

I was being treated for a scabies diagnosis by my facility and have been called off work while I'm being treated. My call off was then extended another 2 days while I apply another topical treatment. The PA who diagnosed me and treated me asked me to come back again on Monday for clearance. I then received a phone call from Employee health department asking that I see my own physician to get medical clearance to return to work.

Is it possible to request that from my physician who didn't originally diagnose me or order me to be called off work?

Background info:

I originally came into Employee health for TST screen and mentioned that I had a rash, but that I had an appointment to see my regular doc regarding the rash. I had NO idea it was scabies. I thought it was a rash related to my pregnancy. The nurse in Employee health then took the steps to refer me to the nurse practitioner, who then referred me to the PA for a 2nd opinion.

Specializes in NICU.

I'm sorry you've got scabies. That can't be much fun. And although it's probably nice to have some time off work, that doesn't much go towards paying the bills, either.

You bet your own physician can give you clearance. S/he will want to see you, I'm guessing, but maybe you can get one from your OB if you're scheduled for a visit soon.

Good luck. Sounds like a lot of effort just to go to work.... :D
