go after BSN or MSN? (VA nursing)

Hello everyone. Forgive me if I am posting in the wrong forum, I wasn't sure where to put this. Anyways I am a second year student at UVA and I was just rejected from the nursing school (I wasn't in it but I applied to transfer). If I stay at UVA my only "option" is the clinical nurse leader program, which would get me an MSN in two years AFTER I get a degree in something else (my backup is psychology). I have several concerns though that make me wonder if I should go after a BSN somewhere else. First, it's not guaranteed I'll get into the grad school, it's competitive; if I don't get in, most other colleges in virginia only offer a second degree BSN, not masters. Second, even after I get an MSN I won't be able to be a nurse practitioner without even more years of school which is expensive. Third, I don't want to waste two years studying something I'm not even passionate about and I can't do anything with a psych degree.

There are problems with the BSN track too. It's too late for me to apply to transfer somewhere else for the 2014-2015 school year. I would have to take a year off from school and then transfer and get a BSN in 2 or 3 years. But if I do that, I could save money by going to college closer to home (I would go to a college in northern VA, like George Mason), and I would be happy studying what I am passionate about, and get to live with my family.
