Do hospitals still hire PCT's/PCA's in Michigan?

Nurses General Nursing

Hi everyone!!!!!

I am a prenursing student with 2 pre-req classes left which i plan to take in the fall semester.I have chosen to do a PCT program while I am waiting to apply for nursing school and then work as a PCT until I can either graduate or can become a student nurse.

I would like to know if hospitals in the Metro Detroit area still hire PCT/PCA's....Detroit, Southfield, Dearborn, Troy, Madison heights etc.......?

If someone is working as a PCT/PCA currently, can you tell me how much and what kind of experience you had before you started working? Are you working in a hospital? How much do you get paid hourly (i'm NOT into this for the money, but i am looking to save for an apartment and i want to know what i will be working with so i can start a yearly budget). How long have you been working there, do you work days, afternoons or midnights, full time, part time, or contingent, and lastly where do you work?

I can't wait to start actually getting into the major......I'm just excited period! i'm full of questions!
