Ambu bags (inpt)

Do you have one in every room, one in the code cart, or none? I'm primarily wanting to know about inpatient med/surg and tele units.

TIA.

Just wondering as last night, no one could find one on our unit and it was an urgent situation. Will definitely be bringing this up to management. The RT was nice enough to go down and take one from another floor after the fact...but a lot of "what ifs" surfaced. :uhoh3:

For cost effectiveness, my hospital has those mouth-to-mouth thingys, which to my own personal opinion are a joke. I have yet to see them used effectivly at the beggining of a code. The pt is blue, as the Crash Cart is pulled over, so that proper vents can be given with the ambu bag. My last hospital I was at had an ambu bag stationed every 30 feet throughout the hospital. Felt a lot better knowing there were baggers near buy.

Every pt has their own custom size ambu bag with the peep dialed in and a pop off valve. There's also four on the code cart (Maplesons to Ambus).
