SPC Nursing Fall 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Finishing pre reqs with Microbiology this semester. I will be applying for Fall 2012. I'm glad they changed the application process so I can apply after the semester is over. I'll have a 3.9 GPA so long as I get A's in Micro. I hope I can get in, its been a long journey to get here...

Haimyem -- you mentioned Summer break....you don't have any summer classes?

Nope, thank goodness!! Certain expansion programs run through the summer, night classes do the summer session, and lpn transition will do the summer. I'm glad because it's a lot of information, writing, stress that I dont' have to deal with over a 10-week period. It's enough information as it is during a regular semester, I couldn't imagine the stress of doing it in a shortened period of time.

I'm applying for the fall and I'm very worried because my GPA is low. I currently have 27 of the 30 credits and my GPA is a 3.666. I wish they would take into account the science classes because I got A's in anatomy 1,2, and microbiology and all the labs. I have two b's and it brings it down so low. I still have to take speech, but I won't be taking it until after the application deadline. If I don't make it in, and I don't expect to since there are so many higher GPA's, I will take speech and apply again for spring, but I will also be applying for HCC since I have all those pre-reqs, with a 4.0 GPA in those.

Nayxo73 - Did you go out to the SPC website and use their gpa calculator? You might be doing better than you think. I'm pretty positive they do count your A&P classes and Micro.

Did anyone apply for Baycare's EAYL program?

Soon to be hope:

Yes, I did use the GPA calculator. And yes you're right they do take into account the A & P and Microbiology. What I meant was that I have a couple of B's in other classes and I wish they would base their stuff on the science classes instead of things like speech or ethics. I got A's in all the sciences but I got a B in Ethics and Psychology. It brings my GPA down so low and says I have a 3.67. I think it's too low to get in and I'm sooo nervous.

The gpas vary from semester to semester so you never know. Plus, you have the 4.0 at HCC so you shouldn't have any problems getting in there! :) Do you prefer SPC over HCC?

I don't know which I prefer. Sometimes I prefer SPC over HCC because that's where I have been going the past few years and I won't have to do anything extra if I get into the program. To go to HCC I'm going to have to register at the school and pay the extra fee to apply for nursing. I hate that its like $53 there, but free at SPC. I would choose the evening class at either one but sometimes I think HCC would be better because for the most part from what I understand, the time commitment for HCC is 16 hours a weeks and for SPC it's like 22+. There are good and bad with both. Both of them are about equally far from my house.

nayxo73 - I've heard that HCC's night program has one clinical day that you can do on Saturdays where SPC has two clinical days w/ no weekends available. I've heard good things about both schools. :)

ugg! The waiting is driving me crazy! :) What did everyone finish up with? I have a 3.9 with all classes complete. I must admit I was freaking out when I saw on my planner that I was missing 3 credit hours.....apparently it is a glitch of the system and a lot of peoples information is showing the same.

I know! I ended up w/ a 4.0 w/ all classes completed but my planner states that I am missing 2credit hours. Did you happen to talk to an advisor about the glitch?

I did. She said not to worry about it, that everyone is aware of the glitch and will be looking at everyone actual information before making a decision. Awesome job with the 4.0!
