lots of questions for LPN's! Hosp or nursing home? Pay and diff? IV course or no?

What are your experiences with each and why do you prefer one over the other? Did you get enough of an orientation when you began working? I guess I'm starting to get cold feet! I'm still in school but graduate this year. I think I prefer to work with the older population so far.

Is it true that nursing homes/ rehab centers pay more than hospitals? Have you seen anywhere that didn't pay a diff. for a weekend or night? I plan on working nights AND on the weekend. I'm in the New Port Richey (above Tampa) area and am thinking of relocating a little south if the pay is better.. Was your employer fair with the salary they offered or did you have to fight for it? Did you benefits start asap or after 3 months?

Also, which nclex-pn book do you think helped you the most? Did you take the IV therapy course or did you skip it?

Obviously, I know everyone will have a different answer because of experiences so please let me know what you know.. I want to hear it all! Thanks for the help!
