HELP ME! Desperate UF Philosophy Major seeks Guidance

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hey guys!

So here's a little background knowledge about myself to give you guys a little insight on my situation: I am currently a Junior at the University of Florida, I transferred here from Miami Dade College with my Associate in Arts degree. My current major is Philosophy. I originally started here on a pre law track. Fun fact: so far it seems like nursing programs are way harder to get into than law school.

Anyways,

I've realized I want to switch my current major and route to nursing. Which so far seems to be an impossible task. If it isn't possible which looks like it I've looked into accelerated nursing programs and unfortunately UFs admits students in the summer and I'll be graduating in the summer which means I'd have to start in the Fall. Does anyone know anyone who has switched majors at UF into the nursing program? I don't have all the prerequisites since I'm just now considering it. The ones I have are incidental and I am missing about 4( for UFs nursing). Also, I keep reading about students not getting in with ******* insane GPAs but UF nursing also doesn't have an stats or class profiles on their website and neither do most schools I've looked into.(what is this tight lipped conspiracy) I currently have a 3.53 and have never had to pay much attention to my gpa since all law school cares about is the LSAT and I've done well enough to get into good schools. So far I've seen nursing schools place a lot of emphasis on GPA and I just want to know if because of my GPA if an accelerated nursing program would even want me.

Does anyone have recommendations for accelerated nursing programs that start in the Fall of 2018? (Staying inside of Florida doesn't really matter to me) Is it too late or possible to switch my major into nursing? What are the average GPAs for accelerated programs ?

P.S I am seeing a nursing advisor Monday (nothing was available this week) but I am an anxious human being and I haven't gotten much sleep worrying about this and googling ****. So I figured I'd come to the mother Teresa's of online nursing forums and ask you guys for some guidance.

I hope this wasn't too confusing!! I'm typing this dissertation on a completely shattered phone screen. So I apologize in advance
